The talented Anaïs Mitchell wrote the music, lyrics, and book for the production Hadestown. It recounts a retold version of the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Eurydice, a maiden facing starvation, sets out to work in a harsh industrial representation of the Greek underworld to escape poverty and the biting cold. Her paramour Orpheus, a destitute singer-songwriter, sets off on a journey to reclaim her.
